You might have recently seen the post on the In Clover instagram about Healthy Hackney. We hope that some of you had a chance to stop by and meet some of the truly talented and passionate people of this East London borough. We also had the chance to catch up with Hannah, who organised the day. Hannah has always found it a bit difficult finding vegan items in her local shops and restaurants, decided to bring some of her favourite brands together to celebrate heathy thinking and lifestyle.
Healthy Hackney started last Saturday morning at Passing Clouds, a building with an aesthetic resembling the Haight in San Francisco, glitter still dusting the floor from the events of the night before.
What I noticed as I walked around and spoke to the people running all of these brands was the that they all had passion for their products. More and more you find local shops, and even centrally located restaurants embracing the independent maker. Daylesford Organic is constantly bringing in independent, organic and ethically made products. TOAST is another example, though not in the food business, this last year they held a pop-up shop of Clapham's flower and gift shop, BOTANY in their Marylebone flagship store.
The entrepreneur is in the middle of a rebirth it seems and how lucky we are to reap the benefits! Especially when it comes in the form of Sara Colohan's raw chocolate or Lois and The Living Teas kombucha, seriously guys they're not to be missed!
